Call for Nominations for Outstanding Leaders in Fundraising - AFPLI's Philanthropy Day 2017
The Association of Fundraising Professionals of Long Island (AFPLI) is now seeking nominations for the Philanthropy Day 2017 Awards.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals of Long Island (AFPLI) is now seeking nominations for the Philanthropy Day 2017 Awards, which honor individuals and organizations whose commitment and dedication to Long Island exhibits outstanding leadership and effectiveness.
A new award is being presented this year: Long Island Community Foundation Nonprofit Impact Award, recognizing a nonprofit that improves the quality of life on Long Island.
The award presented to Long Island businesses has been revamped to focus on small businesses with less than 100 employees, and has been renamed the Outstanding Small Business award.

Philanthropy Day takes place this year on Friday, November 17, at the Melville Marriott, 1350 Walt Whitman Road, Melville, NY.
Nomination forms are available online at www.afpli.org or by calling Joan Connor at 631-249-5008. Please note that the nomination deadline is May 10, 2017.

AFPLI seeks nominations for outstanding individuals, fundraising professionals, volunteers, businesses and foundations in the following award categories:
- Long Island Community Foundation Nonprofit Impact Award - This new award is given to a nonprofit that helps improve quality of life on Long Island by addressing critical community needs through innovative programs that employ interdisciplinary or collaborative approaches.
- Gilbert Tilles Award – Given to a corporation, business or foundation that exhibits outstanding commitment to philanthropy and community involvement. The award recipient will demonstrate leadership in motivating others to participate in philanthropic endeavors and has committed time, effort and financial resources to one or more charities.
- The Horace Hagedorn Outstanding Philanthropist Award – Recognizes an individual or family who has demonstrated outstanding civic and philanthropic leadership through a proven record of exceptional generosity and financial support. Nominees must have encouraged and motivated others to take similar leadership roles toward philanthropy within the Long Island nonprofit community.
- Leaders of Tomorrow Award – Honors a person between the ages of 5 and 18 who has demonstrated exceptional accomplishments through volunteerism and philanthropic activities. Age and grade will be considered when reviewing criteria.
- Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award - Recognizes an individual fundraising executive who works for a nonprofit organization. Presented to an individual who practices his/her profession in an exemplary manner, has a commitment to advancing the profession and to continuing personal professional development. Nominees must have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a professional fundraiser. They must also be a current AFP member.
- Outstanding Small Business Award – Presented to a small business/corporation (less than 100 employees) that demonstrates outstanding commitment through financial support and activity that encourages and motivates others to take roles in philanthropy and community involvement.
- Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award – Recognizes an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills in coordinating groups of volunteers for fundraising projects with one or more nonprofit organizations. The person should show uncommon skill in motivating others through action and personal commitment to the advancement of philanthropy for the benefit of various charitable institutions.
Philanthropy Day is a one-day conference held in November in cities across America where fundraising professionals, board members, business leaders, community activists and individuals gather for professional development and to honor their leaders. Long Island’s Philanthropy Day is one of the largest one-day fundraising conferences in the country.
