I Killed After Car Struck By LIRR Train In Huntington: Report

Service was suspended for about three hours from about 6:30 to 9:30 a.m., officials said.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Long Island Rail Road service was suspended between Huntington and Hicksville in both directions on Saturday for about three hours after a car was struck and its driver killed, according to ABC 7.

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesperson told the outlet that a train bound for Penn Station "struck an unauthorized car on the tracks west of Huntington Station around 6:40 a.m."

The line, which runs out east to Port Jefferson, was restored at around 9:30 a.m., according to the LIRR's Twitter account.
