Celebrate Women's History Month at the Heckscher Museum
The Heckscher Museum of Art offers several public programs in celebration of Women's History Month.
Huntington, NY – The Heckscher Museum of Art offers several public programs in celebration of Women’s History Month. Enjoy the exhibition You Go Girl! Celebrating Women Artists on view throughout March. Whether you want to flex your creativity with a watercolor workshop or listen to a scintillating flute quartet, there are many opportunities for all ages in celebration of Women’s History Month.
On March 4, explore the Museum’s exhibitions during free extended viewing hours from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm and enjoy a First Friday special performance at 7:00 pm. The talented female flutists of Flutissimo! will perform musical tributes to women, including several pieces by fellow female composers. Then, experience the connections between visual art and dance as the Walt Whitman High School modern dance troupe performs an original dance inspired by the exhibition You Go Girl! and choreographed by dance instructor Susan Turner.
If you love to create and enjoy the subtly of watercolors, participate in the Hands-On Watercolor Workshop, a collaboration with the Art League of Long Island, on Saturday, March 12, from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. Begin the day at the Museum for an engaging tour and discussion of the exhibition You Go Girl! with Art League Instructor Jan Guarino, then head over to the Art League for the watercolor workshop. Registration is required. Register with the Art League at 631.462.5400.
