Centerport Fire Department 121st Installation of Officers

The local fire department installed their officers for 2019 and presented awards at the annual dinner held recently.

From Centerport FD: The Centerport Fire Department installed their officers for 2019 and presented awards at their recent 121st Annual Installation Dinner. The Chief Officers installed are Chief of Department Richard Miltner, First Assistant Chief Andrew Heglund and Second Assistant Chief Kyle McLaughlin. The Deputy Chiefs are Chaplain Paul Heglund, Medical Dr. Jack Geffken and PIO/Photographer Steve Silverman.

The Company officers installed are: Engine Company No. 1 – Captain Daniel Gunther, First Lieutenant Nicholas Malico, Second Lieutenant Michael Gunther. Engine Company No. 2 – Captain Andrew Stevenson, Lieutenant Steven Jones. Eagle Truck Company – Captain A.J. Jensen, First Lieutenant Brian Ciafardoni, Second Lieutenant Nicholas Feeley. Fire Police – Captain Elias Felluss, Lieutenant James Cox. Rescue Squad – Captain Walter Lawrence, Lieutenant Debora Thide. Water Rescue Squad – Coordinators James Feeley and Robert Bentivenga.

Outgoing Chief Thomas Boyd was presented with a plaque recognizing his dedicated service as Chief of the Department from 2017-2018. The Harry Burr Memorial Award for answering the most alarms was presented to Captain Walter Lawrence. The Top Fire and Rescue Response Award was presented to Ex-Chief James Feeley. The Top Fire Response Award was presented to Pete Hahn. Top Rescue Response Awards were presented to Dr. Jack Geffken, Lieut. Steven Jones, Dave McGovern, Justin McNally and Debora Thide.

The Company Member of the Year Awards were presented to: Eagle Truck – In Memory of Ex-Captain Bruce Waring, Engine Co. One – John Malico, Rescue Squad – Doug Kranz, Fire Police – Sam Jones.
