The two generations of Chapin’s – Harry’s daughter, his brothers Tom and Steve, and their daughters and son, represent four separate, successful musical groups. The Chapin’s will gather on June 27th at 8:30 PM and will bring life to the Chapin Rainbow Stage in Heckscher Park.

An automobile crash on the Long Island Expressway took the life of Harry Chapin in July 1981. Harry Chapin was a very talented singer, songwriter, and social activist. Harry, his wife Sandy and the Chapin clan have been of unparalleled importance to the Huntington Summer Arts Festival, the Huntington Arts Council, and the cultural life of Long Island. Sandy Chapin, who helped launch HAC’s “Journey” Arts-in-Education program, will be honored at a pre-concert reception by the Council’s Board of Directors. It is only fitting that Harry Chapin’s extended family, of singing musicians, joins us in celebrating the Festival’s 50th Anniversary.
