Christmas Comes Early to Huntington Village: John's Crazy Socks Store Hosts Christmas in July Sale a

The holidays are arriving six months ahead of schedule at John's Crazy Socks, where the company's Main Street retail store is hosting a Christmas in July sale and celebration on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25.

The event marks one of the first major seasonal celebrations at the store since its grand opening ribbon-cutting in June, and it gives the Huntington Village community another reason to stop into the colorful, mission-driven shop at 328A Main Street.

Sale and celebration, all in one weekend

Throughout the Christmas in July sale, shoppers can expect winter-themed discounts storewide, along with holiday decorations and photo opportunities throughout the store. The celebration builds to two signature events:

  • Christmas Eve — Friday, July 24, 6:00 to 8:00 PM: A visit from Summer Santa, Santa Story Time, and a Christmas Carol Sing-Along, along with giveaways, games, and cookies.
  • Christmas Morning — Saturday, July 25, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM: Photos with Santa, a snowball fight, and holiday games and surprises throughout the morning.

Both events are free and open to the public. Families are invited to dress the part: pajamas, John's Crazy Socks gear, and Hawaiian shirts are all welcome.

A store built to be a destination

John's Crazy Socks was founded in Huntington in December 2016 by John Cronin, who has Down syndrome, and his father, Mark Cronin. For nearly nine years, the business operated entirely online, shipping socks and gifts around the world. This year, after years of customers asking for a physical location, the company opened its first retail store right in the heart of Huntington Village.

The store was designed to be more than a place to shop. It's a place where customers can meet John Cronin in person, see the company's mission in action, and experience the same colorful, joyful energy that built the brand's following online.

As one customer put it, “I walk in the store and instantly feel happy.”

Christmas in July is the store's latest opportunity to bring that experience to life.

Why a summer Christmas

Summer is historically the slowest season for the sock business, a pattern the company has seen since its early years. Rather than wait out the slow months, the team decided to create their own reason for the community to celebrate.

"We know summer is the slowest time of year for a sock business: nobody's thinking about cozy socks at the beach," said Mark X. Cronin, co-founder of John's Crazy Socks. "So, we decided if the calendar wouldn't bring us Christmas, we'd bring Christmas to Huntington ourselves."

John Cronin, the company's co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer, plans to be at the store for both days of the celebration, as he is whenever he isn't traveling. "I love Christmas, and I love our customers," said John. "Why wait until December to have both?"

About John's Crazy Socks

John's Crazy Socks is a mission-driven business built on a simple idea: that people with differing abilities have something extraordinary to offer the world. Since 2016, the company has shipped more than 500,000 packages to 94 countries and donated over $850,000 to charity partners, including Special Olympics New York. More than half of the company's team members have differing abilities. The Huntington Village retail store shares its home with the company's fulfillment center and podcast studio.
