Holy Family Alumnae Reunite at Wahooo Market by John in Huntington Village

On Saturday afternoon, a group of Holy Family High School alumnae gathered in Huntington for a mini reunion. They had a cooking class on the schedule, but before it started, they stopped at Wahooo Market by John at 328A Main Street for what they called their dose of happiness.

The visit came with a surprise. Several of the women had been friends in high school with Mark X. Cronin, who co-founded John’s Crazy Socks with his son John. Within minutes, the stories from days gone by were flying, along with plenty of laughs and hugs.

Before heading to class, the group explored the store’s sock wall, which holds hundreds of pairs, and posed for photos with John.

“This place is so much fun,” said Kelly.

Another member of the group was already making plans: “I’m coming back next week to do all my Christmas shopping.”

More Than a Store

Wahooo Market by John grew out of ten years of building John’s Crazy Socks, the business John and Mark started in 2016 to spread happiness and show what people with differing abilities can do. The store officially opened under its new name on October 1. It carries socks, including John’s Crazy Socks, along with apparel, jewelry, home items, treats, and gifts. Many of these are made by people with differing abilities or by organizations that employ them. More than half of the team has a differing ability, and a portion of earnings supports Special Olympics New York.

The store has also become a gathering place. It hosts tours, birthday celebrations, and community events, and it welcomes groups of all kinds.

“I love seeing so many people visit our store. It makes them so happy,” said John.

“We get couples and groups stopping in before a show at the Paramount or dinner on the town; it is so good to see,” said Mark.
