Closures Coming To Long Island Expressway In Town Of Huntington

Bridge maintenance is the reason for the upcoming closure. The state has set up a detour route.

TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — Closures are slated for the eastbound Long Island Expressway in the Town of Huntington between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.

The expressway will be closed at exit 52 (Commack Road/Suffolk County Route 4) for bridge maintenance work, weather permitting. The South Service Road will act as a detour route for traffic.

Motorists were urged by the state to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
