COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY — Christopher Homer, a health teacher at Cold Spring Harbor Jr./Sr. High School, was a recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award from the University of Chicago, the Cold Spring Harbor School District announced.

This notable recognition was awarded to Homer based on a nomination from a university undergraduate student who is one of his former students.

Noted in the nomination application, Homer is a health teacher who is known to have positively impacted the lives of many students, including those who have not attended his classes. He is known to be a caring and compassionate educator who is welcoming, engaging and open-minded, according to the news release. His interactions with students often result in problem-solving
current concerns or helping them with important decisions related to their future goals.
