Custodian Threatens Mass Harm Against Suffolk School District: SCPD
The custodian made the threats after he was denied a promotion, police say.
COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY — A school custodian was arrested Wednesday night after he made a threat of mass harm against the Cold Spring Harbor School District, Suffolk police said.
Jimmy Martin, 57, of Huntington, a custodian in the district, applied for a promotion at work last week, police said. When he was told he did not get the promotion, he made a threat of mass harm against the school district while speaking to co-workers last Friday and again on Monday, police said.
A school administrator was informed of the threats Wednesday afternoon and contacted police at 5:17 p.m., police said.

Martin was arrested at his Huntington home at 10:44 p.m. following an investigation by Second Precinct Crime Section officers, police said.
He was charged with making a threat of mass harm. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
