If you are a fan of such classic movie musicals as West Side Story, The King and I, and My Fair Lady, you are a fan of the singing of the incomparable MARNI NIXON. Her name wasn’t on the credits of those legendary movies, but when Natalie Wood, Deborah Kerr, and Audrey Hepburn opened their mouths to sing, the voice you heard was Marni Nixon.

She also provided Marilyn Monroe’s high notes in “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” Deborah Kerr‘s song in An Affair to Remember, and the angelic voices Ingrid Bergman hears in Joan of Arc. And co-starred and sang as Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music.

The evening’s interview will be interspersed with a fabulous array of historic film clips both legendary and rare, along with audience Q&A.

During the reception that follows, Ms. Nixon will sign copies of her fascinating, richly illustrated memoir, I Could Have Sung All Night (forward by lifelong friend Marilyn Horne), as well as her generously retrospective CD. The latter includes a wide array of her popular and classical repertoire, as well her landmark film recordings of such songs as “Hello, Young Lovers,” “I Feel Pretty,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” and of course, “I Could Have Danced All Night.”

Dubbed by Time Magazine as “the Ghostess with the Mostess,” Marni Nixon won top billing last year as winner of the prestigious 2011 George Peabody Medal for Outstanding Contributions to American Music. With a career spanning movies, television and Broadway to opera and symphonic performances, Ms. Nixon is also the recipient of four Emmy Awards for Best Actress and two Classical Grammy nominations, and has sung under her own name with Leonard Bernstein, Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copland, Pierre Boulez, Charles Ives, Zubin Mehta and Arnold Schoenberg.  She has also been the singing sidekick with Victor Borge and Liberace.
