This workshop will explore drawing from still life and figure drawing. Working with media such as charcoal, crayon, and color washes students will explore color shape and form.
The class will start with looking at the elements of a composition, & how light will affect the approach the drawing. We will experiment with changing the direction of the light, & how shadows change the feeling of the drawing.
We will also experiment with
different methods of finding the shapes as we draw, looking at the subject as shapes and layers of depth, as in a topographic map. We will also use a subtractive method using the paper as if a sculpture which the student will “carve” out the final image.
