Hello again, everybody! It's me, Andrew Tessler, your host of the Daily. Let's get this day started off right, with a quick guide to the most important things going on around town. Today we'll cover:

  1. Town of Huntington high school football teams collecting non-perishable items at grocery stores Sunday. The food drive was set up by Kevin Thorbourne, director of minority affairs for the Town of Huntington, and Town Councilman Sal Ferro. Teams will compete to collect the most items and the winning team will receive $5,000 from the Ferro Foundation. Click the link for locations and times. (Huntington Now)
  2. Plainview gas station robbed, suspect at large. The burglary happened sometime between Sept. 23 and 24 at the Mobil station located at 220 Manetto Hill Rd. The suspect entered the station and removed an unknown amount of currency, cigarette cartons, and lottery tickets. (Daily Voice)
  3. Baby giraffe unveiled to visitors at White Post Farms in Melville. Savannah is the first baby giraffe ever born on Long Island and is doing well since her birth last month. Visitors can see Savannah and her parents Patches and Oliver in a brand-new giraffe experience. (News 12 Bronx)
