HUNTINGTON, NY — Former New York Jets running back Emerson Boozer was recognized by Councilwoman Joan Cergol at the Sept. 17 Town of Huntington Board meeting for his contributions to the area, the Town announced.

Boozer's accomplishments include over three decades as the Town’s Parks Director and a member of the Town’s Environmental Open Space and Parks Advisory Committee.

During his leadership as parks director, the Town opened its first skate park in Greenlawn, started an ice skating camp at the Dix Hills Ice Rink and established other camps that attracted children from a broad range of backgrounds and interests.

In his role as member and vice chair of the EOSPA committee, Boozer helped save environmentally sensitive open space from development, created new recreational opportunities and supported projects that improved parks and helped revitalize neighborhoods.

"His passion and leadership inspired our young people to thrive," Cergol noted in presenting Boozer with a proclamation signed by the Town Board after his recent retirement. "We offer this proclamation to Emerson as another symbol of our appreciation for his dedication to our Town and as recognition of his legacy and the positive influence he has had on our youth for so many years."
