According to the campaign page, Vasquez leaves behind his loving wife and two children, Allan Esteban Vasquez Franco and Ismael Vasquez Vasquez.
“As a devoted father, he worked hard to provide for his family and put them before anything,” the fundraiser description states.
The page also describes Vasquez as a faithful member of the congregation of Cristo El Salvador, where his kindness and presence touched many lives.
Vasquez was walking west to east across New York Avenue at around 5:40 p.m. when he was struck by a gray Toyota SUV traveling northbound, police said.
He was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police later arrested Manuel Flores, 28, of Huntington Station, and charged him with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash, authorities said.
Anyone wishing to support the family can donate through the GoFundMe campaign titled “Donate In Loving Memory of Bacilio Mardoqueo Vasquez Vasquez.”
