HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Robert Gaydos, 38, of Huntington Station, was severely injured in September when he was riding his motorcycle home and collided with a pickup truck in Centerport. His family recently set up a GoFundMe to help Gaydos.

Following the crash, Gaydos suffered a broken neck, broken back, broken hand and had his left leg amputated, according to the family. Any funds raised would help cover his rent and day-to-day expenses, as he is working himself into a prosthetic in hopes of getting back to employment.

If you'd like to support Gaydos and his family, here's the GoFundMe. As of Dec. 12, the family has raised $4,455 of its current $7,000 goal. The campaign was created Nov. 27.

"Any and all donations are greatly appreciated," Darla Mae, the GoFundMe's organizer wrote. "Please, if you cannot donate, at least share my post and spread awareness to my family's situation and help us to get through this trying time. God bless."

Gaydos was riding a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on Centershore Road, near East Main Street, when police say he apparently crossed over the lane divider and collided with a southbound 2003 Ford pickup truck at 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 8.

Jenny Gaydos, his sister, disputed the police report. She told Patch the pickup driver went into Gaydos' lane and hit him, and her brother never drifted out of his lane.
