Virtue, Valor Meet at Glen Cove's Inaugural Daly Cup Game

Glen Cove High School’s Maiden Field hosted the inaugural Dan Daly Cup High School All-Star Lacrosse game on Saturday, honoring the legacy of U.S. Marine Sgt. Maj. Dan Daly, a two-time Medal of Honor recipient.

Sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps, in partnership with the Nassau County Lacrosse Coaches Association, the New York Lizards professional lacrosse team, the City of Glen Cove and the Glen Cove School District, the game featured 50 of Nassau and Suffolk’s elite high school lacrosse players.

Ed-Tech Firm Teq to Hire 30 Salespeople

Teq, a Huntington-based educational technology and professional development firm, plans to hire 30 new sales people in the next three months, the company announced this week.

The company provides professional development for teachers and administrators to help students achieve and also sells robots for classroom use.

Helen Keller National Center Recognizes Congressmen with Inaugural ‘Dr. Robert J. Smithdas Award’

The Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults (HKNC), announced its inaugural “Dr. Robert J. Smithdas Award.”  Coinciding with Helen Keller Deaf-Blind Awareness Week, taking place from June 22-June 28, 2014, this year’s award recipients include Reps. Kevin Yoder (R-KS), Mark Takano (D-CA) and Steve Israel (D-NY).

Art from American Embassies Opens at Guild Hall

On Saturday, at Guild Hall in East Hampton, an exhibit of the print collection belonging to the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies (FAPE) opened to the public. It is the first time ever that the collection has been shown in a private museum. Previously, the prints were only on view in American embassies around the world and at an annual unveiling of new prints presented to the Secretary of State once a year.
