Gunfire Locator Technology to be Tested in Huntington Station
Don't be alarmed by the sound of gunshots Monday night.

The Suffolk County Police Department is cracking down on recent shootings that occurred in the area.
The department will conduct a ShotSpotter calibration in the towns of Huntington Station, Amityville and Wyandanch on Monday.
ShotSpotter is a technology that can pinpoint the location of gunfire and send the information to law enforcement.

The calibration of this program comes after a man was shot in the back in Huntington Station on Saturday and a Northport teen was shot in the leg in Greenlawn on Sunday.
Blank rounds will be used to perform the calibration between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The public should not be alarmed if they hear the sound of gunshots.
