Hannah, Harper, Harley: Huntington Adoptable Pets Of The Week
The three black cats were found living at a house overrun with cats and kittens. Would you like to adopt one...or two? Maybe three?

HUNTINGTON, NY — Hannah, Harper, and Harley, three nearly identical black kittens, are the Grateful Paw Cat Shelter's Huntington Pets of the Week.
"Therein lies a challenge…how to determine who is who without turning them upside down to find the one who has a very small patch of white on the chest and lower belly," said Debbi Larkin, president of the shelter.
The trio was rescued by a trapper who received a call about numerous kittens needing placement. There were actually six kittens, but the first three were adopted quickly. They were found living at a house which was overrun with cats and kittens, according to Larkin. They were brought to the shelter, and after being checked by a veterinarian, placed in foster care. The trio is a "handful," but in a good way, Larkin said.

"Black cats have gone from being revered, treated like royalty, sailing companions, good luck symbols, objects of silly superstitions and then back again to being celebrated for their personalities," Larkin said. "Black cats are very observant and faithful to their owners. The have a laid-back mystique, usually have golden eyes and most of them are males. The only difficult thing about black cats is that they are very hard to photograph."
Hannah is all black and approximately 3 months old. She has golden eyes.

"She is the super sweet one who loves to cuddle and is a non-stop purring machine," Larkin said. "She loves being around people, the more the merrier. Her favorite toy is the crinkly ball and she carries it around so her siblings or the humans can’t steal it. She is much smaller than her siblings, but has the biggest personality."
Harper is also approximately 3 months old. She has the small patch of white on her belly, but one has to pick her up to see it.
"She LOVES to play and does so until she falls down from exhaustion," Larkin said. "Her favorite toy is the curly spring and she carries that around the house so nobody can steal it..talk about not sharing nicely! She will climb up on you for cuddles when playtime is done and she is definitely the most curious."
Harley is also 3 months old. He is the sleekest of all and sits up tall when trying to get one's attention, according to Larkin.
"He is your typical male cat...very mushy and affectionate. He loves to do nose kisses and
head butts. His two favorite toys are the ball spinner and the laser, and, boy can he run to catch the laser. He is willing to share his toys but you have to be fast enough to catch him."
All three kittens have been totally vetted, tested negative for FELV and FIV, litter box trained and they will be spayed or neutered on July 17 and then ready for adoption.

The rescue is at 3 Verleye Ave., East Northport, and visiting hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
"We are hoping they will all be back from their surgery so they can join the rest of the kittens at our Kitten Adoption Day on July 18 from 7 to 9 p.m.," Larkin said. "If they don’t make it back in time, they will be available at the end of that week. These little panthers would love to find their forever home so they can show you how much love and cuddles they can give. Won’t you give
them a chance?"
While the three do not need to be adopted together, they would do well in a home with a feline companion, Larkin said.
