- The heat comes back for the weekend. We hope you have enjoyed this stretch of beautiful weather, but sadly it will be hot and humid again Friday through Sunday. Expect temperatures to be in the mid 80s to around 90 degrees. The good news is sunny skies, and no rain is in the forecast. (Weather.com)
- Duo breaks into Good 2 Go Deli in Cold Spring Harbor and makes off with cash and a safe. The theft occurred on Aug. 9 when the duo broke into the back door and made off with $700 and a safe. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Huntington Patch)
- Postal Service truck destroyed by fire in Melville. A postal service worker was delivering mail to a commercial business on Spagnoli Road Wednesday when the engine compartment caught on fire. She returned to the truck and saved the mail, and three fire engines from the Melville Fire Department arrived to extinguish the fire. (Patch)
