- The Aug. 19 Suffolk Arrest Report available now. See recent arrests throughout Suffolk County, and more specifically in the Second Precinct which covers the Town of Huntington. If you have information on a crime, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Huntington Patch)
- Lidl to replace Stein Mart and open in Commack on Aug. 31. “Lidl invested more than $7 million to transform the Commack location formerly occupied by Stein Mart, which closed in 2020 as part of the apparel retailer’s bankruptcy,” the management company reported on its Facebook page recently. The store will employ more than 50 people. (LongIsland.com)

- Loaded gun found in BMW after fiery crash. Police observed a 2018 BMW speeding on Route 231 early Thursday morning around 1 a.m. They put their lights on and the driver did not stop, and police decided not to pursue. A short time later the car driven by 22-year-old Eric Johnson crashed and flipped. Police pulled four people from the vehicle and found a loaded handgun and drugs. All four men in the car face numerous charges. (Huntington Patch)
