  1. If you're looking for a new date night spot, check out UThai at 8285 Jericho Turnpike. The eatery opened this summer and has received rave reviews so far. Let us know what you think if you've tried UThai! (LongIsland.com)
  2. The 17th annual Fight for Charity was held in Melville. Dozens of businesses attended and tossed their gloves in the ring, in an event that is a fundraiser for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The event has raised almost $2 million since its inception and amateur boxes train for weeks to showcase their skills in the event. See a video recap in the link. (News 12 Long Island)
  3. Mercaz Academy celebrates inauguration with ribbon cutting ceremony. The ceremony took place on Sept. 11 with hundreds of adults and children attending to show support for the new Jewish school, along with New York State Sen. James Gaughran and Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads. “We have 18 different communities represented here,” said Chairman of the Board Gary Katz. “That’s what I call a community school.” (Patch)

  • Huntington Animal Shelter: Suffolk County Police Officer Volpe from the Crime Scene Section stopped by the Animal Shelter to visit Daria and Penny for "Adopt a Cop."   • Huntington Union Free School District: The Huntington golf team are defending league champions and showed that against Walt Whitman. The win over Whitman at the Town of Oyster Bay's Golf Course starts the team's season off right at 1-0. (Huntington Union Free School District via Facebook)
  • Town of Huntington: The Huntington Unity Fun Day Parade will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. The parade will be roughly one hour and start at Huntington High School at McKay Road and ending at Stimson Middle School. Use a detour as Oakwood Road will be closed in that vicinity. (Town of Huntington via Facebook)
