Huntington Hospital Recognized for Exceptional Palliative Care Services

The hospital was recognized by the Joint Commission.

Huntington Hospital’s palliative care services has been recognized as a leading program by the Joint Commission.

The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification Program for Palliative Care recognizes hospital inpatient programs that offer exceptional patient and family-extended care and help improve the lives of patients with serious illnesses.

“We are very proud to have achieved Joint Commission accreditation for palliative care,” said Adrianna Garite, DO, chief of palliative medicine at Huntington Hospital.

The hospital’s palliative care program underwent a voluntary onsite evaluation to see if it met the standards of The Joint Commission to obtain certification.

The Huntington Hospital palliative care group is an interdisciplinary team that includes two physicians, a nurse practitioner, a social worker, a chaplain and an administrative assistant.

“I am honored to have the privilege to lead such a dedicated, compassionate and skilled team to provide the highest quality palliative care to the community of Huntington,” Garite said in a statement.
