Huntington Police Blotter: Fraudulent Checks Cashed

ALSO: People tried to scam others by calling them and saying they needed to put up money to help a person in an emergency, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Feb. 12 through Feb. 18.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Feb. 17: Grand larceny (first-degree) was reported on Cedarwood Drive in Huntington Station from Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. Someone cashed a check they were not authorized to, police said.
  • Feb. 16: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported on East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station at 3:13 p.m. Someone cashed a fraudulent check, police said.
  • Feb. 16: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Wyoming Drive in Huntington Station from Feb. 14 at 2:17 p.m. A person tried to scam someone else by calling them and saying they needed to put up cash to help someone else in an emergency, police said.
  • Feb. 16: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Wyoming Drive in Huntington Station from Feb. 13 at 2:52 p.m. A person tried to scam someone by calling them and saying they needed to put up cash to help someone else in an emergency, police said.
