Huntington Secures $1M in State Funding for Parking Lot Updates

The funding will be used to refurbish a town-owned parking lot that serves members of the community.

The Town of Huntington recently received $1,000,000 in state funding for parking lot updates.

The parking lot at the John J. Flanagan Memorial Activity Center, located adjacent to the YMCA, will be improved to provide better and safer parking for those who use the Cinema Arts Center, the Huntington YMCA as well as the Senior Citizen Center, Senior Day Care Center and other Town programs.

"The Flanagan Center is heavily used by seniors, youth, YMCA members and Cinema Arts Center patrons and this funding will add much needed parking,” Town of Huntington Supervisor Frank Petrone said in a press release.

This grant was secured by Sen. John Flanagan and Sen. Carl Marcellino.

“Enhancing the safety of the parking lot for the YMCA members and program participants will help the YMCA continue to be the center of the Huntington community,” Marcellino said.

The senators hope these updates will help the Town provide programs that encourages youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

“This funding will help ensure residents are able to continue to easily access the YMCA and other facilities so that everyone can enjoy the great quality of life Huntington has to offer,” Flanagan said.

This parking project will assist the Town in accommodating the YMCA’s members and guests as the building undergoes its own renovations and expansions.

“This funding presents the Huntington YMCA, Cinema Arts and the town programs and services housed in the John J. Flanagan Memorial Activity Center with the opportunity to serve an even greater population,” Anne N. Brigis, President and CEO of the YMCA of Long Island, said.
