Huntington Station Festival Brings Families, Cultures Together
County funding helped support a celebration of Huntington Station's cultural diversity, local artists and businesses.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Huntington Station residents gathered Sunday for a celebration of the community's cultural diversity, local businesses and neighborhood pride, supported by funding from Suffolk County Legislator Rebecca Sanin.
Station Celebration, held Nov. 1 at the Huntington Flea, was organized in partnership with the Huntington Station Business Improvement District. The event featured Día de los Muertos activities, Halloween festivities, cultural arts and crafts, and family-friendly programming.
Sanin allocated county omnibus grant funding to support the event, which aimed to highlight the traditions, artists and small businesses that contribute to Huntington Station's identity.

"Huntington Station has so much to be proud of, from our diverse cultural traditions to the artists, small businesses, and families who give this community its identity," Sanin said. "Too often, we talk about investing in communities only in terms of roads and infrastructure. Those investments are essential, but so is investing in the experiences that bring people together and remind residents that their community is worth celebrating."
A central part of the celebration focused on Día de los Muertos, a Mexican tradition honoring deceased loved ones. Families participated in cultural activities designed to introduce attendees to the holiday's traditions and significance.

"Our downtown deserves to be a destination where local businesses thrive, cultural traditions are celebrated, and residents feel a genuine sense of pride in their community," Kelly Smith of the Huntington Station BID said. "Thanks to Legislator Rebecca Sanin’s investment and our continued partnership, we were able to turn that vision into something tangible, bringing together local artists, businesses, and families for a celebration that reflects the very best of Huntington Station."
Halloween festivities also welcomed families in costume, while participating artists, vendors and community organizations contributed to the day's activities.
"There's a reason we call it Station Celebration," Sanin said. "Huntington Station deserves to be recognized for everything that makes it special."
