HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Summer Levinsky recently became the first female Eagle Scout in Suffolk County, the Suffolk County Council, Boy Scouts of America, announced via news release.
Levinsky, of Huntington Station, will join the nation’s inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts to be celebrated this month during the 111th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Girls were first invited to join the Scouts, BSA program in 2019.
As a little girl, Summer wanted to be a Scout like her older brothers, to the point where she would dress in their Scout uniforms. For her Eagle Scout service project, Summer applied all of the skills she learned through the Scouting BSA program to completely renovate the dressing room for the theatrical department at Walt Whitman High School. Being an active member of the theatrical department as a performer, dancer and choreographer, she knew that the dressing room needed updating. Renovations included a fresh coat of paint, new butcher block countertops, larger mirrors, updated LED lights and numerous motivational quotes.
Summer said her favorite quote in the dressing room is, "I’m Fabulous," which is part of the performer’s routine before each show. Their teacher would have all performers place their hand over their heart and repeat, "I’m fabulous."
In addition to being an Eagle Scout, Summer is still actively involved in Scouting BSA as an assistant Scoutmaster, providing support and guidance to the younger Scouts. She is proud of all of the training programs she has been a part of such as National Youth Leadership Training, Wood Badge, and Outdoor Ethics.
Summer graduated high school in 2020 with honors in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, all while finishing her Eagle Scout service project.

"Once Summer sets her mind on something, her passion and her relentless personality take over," Summer's mom, Tammy, said. "There is nothing Summer cannot accomplish."
Summer is now a business economics student at SUNY Oneonta and plans on being an entrepreneur in the future.
David Hunt, a district advancement chair, and president-elect of Suffolk County Council, presided over Summer's Eagle Board of Review.
"Summer is a remarkable young lady," Hunt said. "Earning Eagle Scout is an outstanding achievement. Accomplishing it in two years is incredibly difficult and very impressive."
