- A Huntington Station man was charged with murder after Thursday's stabbing. Candelario Cordova, 53, was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death Thursday of Roque Cisneros, 58, of Huntington Station. He was a family friend for nearly 20 years and also stabbed Cisneros' wife when she tried to intervene during the altercation. "This defendant allegedly murdered his friend and was savagely attacking his friend’s wife when she tried to save her husband’s life," Suffolk County DA Ray Tierney said. "Our thoughts are with the [victim's] family as we prosecute this defendant for this horrendous crime." (Huntington Patch)
- Town of Oyster Bay will hold a month-long pet food and supply drive in partnership with LI Cares. The drive will be held from March 1 through March 31 and is aimed to help residents who have trouble affording food and supplies for their pets. "Unfortunately, many beloved pets are placed into shelters or given away because families cannot afford the necessary food and supplies," said Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. - Two Elwood High School students earned Suffolk Zone Awards. Seniors Mario Bento and Grace Mott were selected for excellent achievement in physical education, outstanding character and leadership in school-wide activities. (Patch)
