Suffolk Man Who Tried To Kidnap Girlfriend Sentenced: SCDA
The man abducted his girlfriend from an inn and drove her into Brooklyn against her will, the Suffolk DA says. He faces 13 years.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A Huntington Station man was sentenced to 13 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to trying to kidnap his girlfriend, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced Friday.
Kenyonne Fleurinay, 23, of Huntington Station, pleaded guilty in September to second-degree attempted kidnapping (a class C violent felony) and then not returning to court for his sentence.
“Not only did this defendant violently abduct a person that he should have cared for, but he was
brazen enough to abscond from court and commit another felony while on the run,” Tierney stated. “This defendant’s actions have earned him a significant sentence.”

Fleurinay abducted his 20-year-old girlfriend from America’s Best Value Inn in Smithtown on March 6 after an argument and drove her against her will into Brooklyn, officials said.
A Melville gas station surveillance video caught the woman twice trying to flee from Fleurinay's car, prosecutors said. Fleurinay violently threw her back into the car both times, authorities said. While driving from Suffolk to Kings County, Fleurinay repeatedly whipped the woman with a phone charger, officials said.

The woman's mother contacted Fleurinay and pleaded with him to return her daughter until he eventually drove her back to Suffolk County, where he was arrested by Suffolk police, officials said.
Fleurinay pleaded guilty on Sept. 9 to the kidnapping attempt.
He was scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 23, but he did not return to court, prompting a warrant for his immediate arrest, prosecutors said.
Nassau police on Oct. 30 arrested Fleurinay on a third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charge — a class B felony. He was returned to Suffolk County to be sentenced on the charge.
Fleurinay was sentenced to 13 years in prison followed by 5 years post release supervision. He was represented by Richard Stafford, Esq.
