Huntington Station Resident Earns SUNY's Highest Faculty Award

A Huntington Station resident who works as a professor at Farmingdale State College was recently awarded SUNY’s highest faculty award.

Wayne Krush received the Chancellor’s Award in Faculty Service, which recognizes professors who encourage students to pursue excellence through their professional work.

Krush is an associate professor of visual communications in Farmingdale’s Department of Visual Communications, in the School of Business, and previously served as department chair.

“My philosophy in life is to take our God-given talents and balance our day-to-day grind, while seeking to reach out to serve others when the opportunity presents itself,” Krush said in a press release.

Krush has worked with his students on volunteer design work for Long Island affiliates of United Cerebral Palsy, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. He’s also completed projects for the Long Island Aquarium, the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and Huntington’s Heckscher Museum of Art.

He was responsible for changing Farmingdale’s associate’s degree in visual communications into a bachelor’s degree. Krush then created New Media Design, an applied learning program that creates a real-world service-learning environment for seniors.

Krush earned his MA at Empire State College, and his BFA at the School of Visual Arts.
