Huntington Waives Shelter Adoption Fees for Pit Bull and Pit Bull Mixes

If you’re considering adopting a pit bull or pit bull mix, October is the month to do it.

That’s when the Town of Huntington will be waiving adoption fees at the Town Animal Shelter for these kinds of dogs.

And in partnership with the League for Animal Protection, the town will conduct a free spaying and neutering program for pit bulls and pit bull mixes. The program, similar to one that has been conducted in the past, will be at the North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Northport.

These initiatives coincide with National Pit Bull Awareness Month in October.

The town passed measures approving these initiatives at its Aug. 19 meeting.
