Huntington resident Stan Brodsky is a contemporary New York artist who has been exhibited extensively in New York, Long Island and throughout the USA. His work is included in public and private collections throughout the United States. Renowned as a master colorist, Brodsky’s abstract landscapes capture the essence of nature throughout the world, while his figurative work employs color to create highly personal expressionist images. Brodsky, who holds a doctorate degree from Columbia University and a master’s degree from Iowa University, is professor emeritus and former director of studio programming at Long Island University, Brookville. In AB-EX / RE-CON: Abstract Expressionism Reconsidered, a major exhibition at Nassau County Museum of Art through June 16, Brodsky’s work is featured in a focused installation occupying one full gallery. Nassau County Museum of Art is located at 1 Museum Drive in Roslyn Harbor, just off Northern Boulevard, Route 25A, two traffic lights west of Glen Cove Road. The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Docent-led tours of the exhibition are offered at 2 p.m. each day; tours of the mansion are offered each Saturday at 1 p.m.; meet in the lobby, no reservations needed. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62 and above) and $4 for students and children aged 4 to 12. Members and children under 4 are admitted free. Parking is free on weekdays. On weekends only, there is a $2 parking fee (members, free).
