Last Chance: Library Decisions
Election Tuesday with board trustee positions and proposed budget increases on ballot for area libraries.

We've seen hundreds of events come and go in the community, but how often does one pass you by that you wish you hadn't missed out on? That's where we come in. Each week Huntington Patch will post a quick reminder about the events, activities or important tasks whose deadlines have come.
With the libary elections set for April 3, residents must decide on some tough budget decisions and the possibility of a electing a new member to the five-member Board of Trustees of the , with incumbent Paul Ehrlich squaring of aganst Jairo Sanin for a five-year term.
Also on the ballot in Huntington, the community is being asked to approve a total levy of nearly $8.5 million — up $166,527 compared to last year, according to a library report. Increases to retirement costs, insurance premiums and mass transit taxes have resulted in continuing budgeting challenges for the library.

Voting takes place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the main library.
In South Huntington, the library will hold its election from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the meeting room on the lower level. The proposed 2012-13 operating budget calls for an increase of 1.71 percent, which translates to an annual increase of about $11.40 for the average property owner, according to the library website.

South Huntington Board Trustee John Eberhardt is running unopposed for a five-year term on the library board.
