VIDEO: Lightning Strike Sparks Fire in Greenlawn Home
Firefighters responded to the scene Monday afternoon.

A home in Greenlawn caught fire after fire officials say it was struck by lightning during a heavy thunderstorm Monday afternoon.
According to authorities, the Greenlawn Fire Department and Suffolk County Police responded to a Rosemont Court home to find the attic ablaze and flames coming out the roof at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The blaze was brought under control within 45 minutes thanks to the Greenlawn Fire Department, which received mutual aid assistance from the Dix Hills and Huntington Manor Fire Departments.
No injuries reported and the incident is being investigated by the Huntington Town Fire Marshal.

Another home in Huntington caught fire during Monday’s thunderstorm, although the cause of that fire is still under investigation.
Over 60 volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel were on the scene with seven trucks and two ambulances. Standby coverage was provided by the Centerport and East Northport Fire Departments.
All units were under the command of first assistant chief Michael Bellis and third assistant chief Angelo Santomauro.
