Here is what drivers in and around the township should know.
TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — Overnight detours are slated for the Long Island Expressway in the Town of Huntington, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.
On Tuesday, traffic on the westbound Long Island Expressway at exit 51 (Route 231) in the Town of Huntington will be detoured onto the North Service Road from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning so bridge maintenance work can be done.
The state urged drivers to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
