LUPINACCI CONDEMNS LAVISH STATE PENSIONS FOR FELONS
Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) frustrated over report that criminals are still receiving state pensions.

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) is voicing his anger after the recent reports that former legislators convicted of crimes still are receiving state pensions, costing the taxpayers approximately $531,000 a year.
“It’s time for lawmakers to buckle down and bring real ethics reform to Albany; hardworking taxpayers should not have to pay for these criminals’ pricey retirement pensions another day,” said Lupinacci. “My Assembly Minority colleagues and I have been calling for ethics reform for years and plan on continuing the fight.”
Lupinacci and his Assembly Minority colleagues have proposed Assembly Bill A.4643A, which would strip pensions and retirement benefits from lawmakers who are convicted of a crime. The bill has been referred to the Judiciary Committee, but the Assembly Majority has refused to bring the bill to the Assembly Floor for a vote.

“Our state needs to take a serious stance against those who abuse the public’s trust. These public officers are meant to serve for the good of the people; not only did they lie to those who put their trust in them, but also took money out of their pockets. There is no question, we need to bring real reform to New York State,” concluded Lupinacci.
