Lupinacci Looks to Revamp Local Roads And Bridges

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) calls for infrastructure repairs throughout Long Island.

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently met with local highway workers, highway superintendents and members of the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) who were in Albany advocating for increased funding for roads and bridge repairs across New York State.

“It is no secret that countless roads and bridges are crumbling and becoming unsafe to travel across for busy families and commercial vehicles. Our highway departments have done a great job utilizing CHIPS funding and spreading their concerns about failing infrastructure, particularly the roads and bridges in New York State,” said Lupinacci, who is also a member of the Assembly Committee on Transportation. “Now it’s our turn to make sure they won’t have to go without the means to maintain our roads. We must ensure CHIPS gets adequate funding.”

Highway Departments have been very vocal in recent years keeping New Yorkers aware of the dangers of failing roads and bridges, and how improvements need to be made now more than ever.

“Our number one priority in the legislature should be the safety of our constituents, and to know that the roads and bridges we travel on are not safe is nerve-racking. We need to make sure the proper funding is available for infrastructure repairs in this year’s budget,” concluded Lupinacci.
