LUPINACCI: MAJORITY PUSHES WATERED-DOWN PENSION REFORM
Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) and fellow Assembly Minority Members today continued their efforts to fight corruption in Albany.

As the end of this year’s legislative session approaches, Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) and fellow Assembly Minority Members today continued their efforts to fight corruption in Albany. Lupinacci and his colleagues held a press conference calling on the Assembly Majority to bring meaningful pension reform legislation to the Assembly Floor for a vote before the end of the session on June 17.
“Honest, hardworking New York taxpayers deserve better than the weak, watered-down legislation that the Assembly Majority has brought to the table, with only two weeks left in this year’s legislative session,” said Lupinacci.
The Assembly Majority recently introduced Assembly Bill 7704, which would strip pensions from any elected official who is convicted of a felony, but would still allow family members to reap the benefits of their lavish pensions.

“Our government had a real chance to earn the public’s trust back, and prove that lawmakers are serious about cleaning up Albany. Instead, the Assembly Majority has repeatedly shown their unwillingness to compromise by completely ignoring the governor and senate’s ethics and pension reform proposals that were negotiated in March. It’s now June, and we are being forced to settle with legislation that does not pack a punch,” Lupinacci concluded.
