Lupinacci: Pension Forfeiture Is A Step In The Right Direction

ALBANY, N.Y. – Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I,Ref.—South Huntington) voted today on the State Assembly’s pension forfeiture bill. The bill, if approved by voters would effectively strip legislators convicted of corruption related charges of their taxpayer funded pension.

“Today, I am proud to announce my vote in favor of the Assembly’s pension forfeiture bill so Long Island, and the state as a whole, receives the honest government it deserves,” said Lupinacci. “For too long corrupt politicians, from Silver to Skelos, have used our government for their own personal gain. This bill sends a message to all that New York will no longer tolerate the unethical behavior of our elected officials.

“While our vote today is a step in the right direction, we must continue to restore the integrity of our government. Our conference has led the charge in producing bills that would strengthen our efforts in fighting corruption while heightening our standard for ethical conduct. As public servants, we swore an oath to uphold the public trust and I call on both sides to continue these efforts in enacting additional legislation that shows New York will no longer tolerate criminal conduct.”
