SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A Holtsville man pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run that killed a man in Huntington Station in August, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced Monday.

Kevin Galloway, 53, pleaded guilty to felony leaving the scene of an incident without reporting after he crashed into Natividad Interiano, 48, of Huntington, killing him, the DA said.

"This defendant left Mr. Interiano in the street to die," Tierney said in a news release. "My office remains committed to thoroughly investigating vehicular fatalities and prosecuting drivers who jeopardize the safety of our roadways and citizens in Suffolk County."

Nearby video footage captured Galloway traveling eastbound in his black 2003 Chevrolet Suburban at 9:12 p.m. Aug. 27 when he struck Interiano as he was crossing the intersection on East Pulaski Road in Huntington Station, authorities said. Interiano, who had been walking with a cane, was pronounced dead at the scene, Tierney said.

Galloway kept driving, and another video surveillance camera captured him entering a BP Gas Station on Park Avenue in Huntington Station, investigators said. The video footage depicted Galloway pulling into the gas station, inspecting the front end of his vehicle, and pushing the left headlight back into the vehicle before driving away, prosecutors said.

On Aug. 28, in an attempt to evade law enforcement, Galloway replaced the hood, front grill, and rims of his vehicle, the DA said. The next day, Galloway took the damaged parts of the vehicle to a recycling center in Medford where they were scrapped for cash, officials said.

Galloway was arrested on Sept. 1 when he admitted to driving the Chevrolet at the time of the collision, authorities said.

Galloway pleaded guilty on Monday. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 10. He is being represented by Eric Besso.
