Man Pleads Guilty To Slashing Bouncer At Huntington Bar: Suffolk DA
The man caused "permanent and severe" injuries to the bouncer's face, the DA says.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — An Islip Terrace man pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree assault after he slashed a bouncer with a sharp object at a Huntington bar in October 2022, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced Thursday.
Darieo St. Leger, 34, is expected to be sentenced to 12 years in prison after he admitted to slashing the bouncer in the face, the DA said.
"This enraged defendant senselessly slashed a bouncer's face, causing permanent and severe injuries," Tierney said in a news release. "He chose to attack the victim, who was just doing his job, simply because he was not allowed in. With this plea and upcoming sentence, we have succeeded in getting a dangerous individual off our streets. Horrific assaults such as these will not be tolerated in Suffolk County, and those who chose to commit such crimes will be brought to justice."

St. Leger got into an argument with a bouncer who was not allowing him in at 12:40 a.m. Oct. 23, 2022, according to St. Leger's admissions at his guilty plea allocution. St. Leger then slashed the bouncer across the face, from ear to mouth, with a sharp object, authorities said. The slash caused an artery in the victim’s cheek to be severed, officials said. St. Leger fled the bar after the attack, the DA said.
The bouncer was rushed to Huntington Hospital to undergo lifesaving emergency surgery which included multiple blood transfusions, investigators said. The bouncer had difficulty hearing out of his left ear and was unable to blink with his left eye, so he was required to undergo an immediate second surgery to reattach a nerve ending that was severed during the attack, prosecutors said. He also suffered a scar along the entire left side of his face, officials said.
