Man Stole 3 Cars In 2 Days: Suffolk Police

The cars were stolen across the county, police say.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A Wheatley Heights man was arrested on Monday in connection with stealing three cars in two days, Suffolk police said.

Second Precinct officers responded to Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington Station after a 911 caller found a 2017 BMW in the parking lot that had been reported stolen in Southampton Town earlier Monday morning, police said. Officers found the BMW at 1:06 p.m. and saw Claudy Fleury Jr., 25, enter the SUV and drive off, police said.

Officers stopped the vehicle just south of the mall and took Fleury Jr. into custody, police said.

Fleury, who had a stolen credit card on him, was also wanted for stealing a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a 7-Eleven parking lot, at 3269 Sunrise Highway, Islip Terrace, around 1:25 p.m. Sunday, police said. He was also wanted for the theft of a 2013 Toyota Camry from a parking lot on Hewitt Square in East Northport at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Fleury was charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny, one count of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and one count of second-degree criminal contempt.

He was held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, after which he will be turned over to Southampton Town Police for additional charges, Suffolk police said.
