Here are the top four stories in Huntington today:

  1. The town of Oyster Bay lends five garbage trucks to the town of Huntington. The trucks will ensure that trash removal stays on schedule after the Saturday night fire that destroyed six town garbage trucks. “Supervisor [Ed] Smyth is a great partner in government and we’re happy to lend the equipment needed to keep sanitation operations moving forward," Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joe Saladino said. (Huntington Patch)
  2. A Melville man was killed in a Ronkonkoma hit-and-run Monday night. "Robert Twiford, 61, of Melville, was lying in the roadway of the Long Island Expressway Exit 60E off-ramp when he was struck by at least one vehicle, which then drove away, at 8 p.m., police said." It's unclear at this time why he was lying in the road, but we will keep you updated on any developments or statements made from police. (Patch)
  3. Take a look at the most recent Huntington Police Blotter. These are the recent incidents from Nov. 27 through Dec. 3. If you have any information on a crime, call Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. A cash reward is often awarded for information that leads to an arrest. (Huntington Patch)
