More Than 60 Harborfields Musicians Selected For All-County

Students across the school district are set to have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with SCMEA All-County ensembles in early March.

GREENLAWN, NY — More than 60 student-musicians from the Harborfields Central School District are set to participate in All-County, the Suffolk County Music Educators' Association announced.

Students spanning grades 5 to 10 at Harborfields High School, Oldfield Middle School and Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School are due to have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with SCMEA All-County ensembles in early March should coronavirus-related circumstances allow them to, the school district wrote in a news release.

"These high numbers demonstrate that, despite the extreme difficulties surrounding all of last year, including virtual NYSSMA adjudications which were used as the chief criteria for selection, our students never stopped putting forth tremendous effort in their musical pursuits,” said Dan Bilawsky, the district’s K-12 music department coordinator, via release. "This is a testament to the hard work of our student-musicians, their support network outside of school and the dedicated music staff in Harborfields."
