Overnight Detours Coming To LI Expressway In Town Of Huntington
A pavement resurfacing project is soon to be in the works.
TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — Overnight detours will soon be necessary for roughly a month on the Long Island Expressway in the Town of Huntington.
All eastbound traffic on the Long Island Expressway is set to be detoured onto the South Service Road between Exit 51 (State Route 231/Deer Park Avenue) and Exit 53 (Sagtikos State Parkway) in the Town of Huntington starting at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, starting on Monday, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.
The pavement resurfacing project is set to last about a month, depending on the weather.

One eastbound lane is subject to closure between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., the department stated.
Electronic variable message signs along the L.I.E. will display updates.

"NYSDOT appreciates the patience and cooperation of the traveling public and the local community while work is undertaken to help assure the continued protection of all motorists," the department stated.
Drivers were urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of someone's driver's license.
