- Oyster Bay's Oyster Festival is set for this weekend. The festival is one of the premiere fall festivals on Long Island. After a two-year break due to COVID-19, the festival is back and ready for a huge turnout. "People are calling me non-stop," Kerry Gillick-Goldberg, who manages public relations for the festival, told Patch. After a two-year break due to the pandemic, she says, people are excited for "a little bit of normalcy." The festival is free and runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. (Patch)
- A Plainview business owner was busted for a $40 million counterfeiting operation. Lindsay Castelli, 31, of Smithtown is the owner of Linny's Boutique on Old Country Road in Plainview. Castelli would use a heat-press to put designer logos on clothing worth only a few dollars. "Nassau County Police say the United States Postal Inspectors helped carry out an 18-month investigation that included numerous undercover buys." Detectives carried out a search warrant in the store on Oct. 4. Castelli turned herself in on Oct. 7 and was charged with trademark counterfeiting. (FOX 5 New York)
- Check out the most recent Northport Police Blotter. You can see police incidents from Oct. 3 through Oct. 9 which includes theft, accidents, parking violations, and more. Click the link to read full descriptions on the incidents. (Patch)
- Hooks & Chops abruptly closed in Commack. The restaurant originally stated it would be temporarily closed on Oct. 4 after flooding, but announced a few days later it would be closing permanently. "Due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, head chef and owner Steven Del Lima is saddened to say Hooks & Chops has been forced to close its doors," the announcement read. "We'd like to give a big thank you to our loyal staff and clientele for supporting us and we thank you all for the last two years of service."(Daily Voice)
