Huntington Town Supervisor Frank P. Petrone and Planning Board member David Pennetta took part in a panel discussion at the Energeia Partnership’s Land Use Workshop at the Patchogue Theater April 24.
Headquartered at Molloy College, the Energeia Partnership is a leadership academy that aims to identify and address issues challenging Long Island.
The goal of the April 24 workshop was to help members of the Energia Class of 2014 identify the current state of land use on Long Island, describe the challenges of regional planning, and identify the challenges of competing priorities to coexist and work together.

Chris Capece, senior development director for Avalon Bay Communities, joined Petrone and Pennetta on a panel that explored as a case study the events related to approval and construction of Avalon Bay’s 379-unit Huntington Station project.
Terri Elkowitz of VHB Engineering, which has offices in Hauppauge, moderated the panel.

Avalon Bay Huntington Station was one of two case studies. The other focused on the New Village project in Patchogue.
