Pickup Driver Who Hit 3 & Drove Off Is Arrested: Police

Police had reported the October crash last week. The man driving the truck was arrested and charged.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — The pickup truck driver who hit three people and then drove off in Huntington Station in October was arrested last week, the Suffolk County Police Department said. The arrest came two days after the police department released information of the hit-and-run.

Rupel Portillo-Gonzalez, 30, of East Northport, was arrested in East Northport on Nov. 6 and charged with first-degree leaving accident: failure to show license/ID.

On Oct. 13 around 4:30 a.m., three people were in front of 118 West Hills Road when they were hit by a multi-colored pickup truck being driven by Portillo-Gonzalez, police said. He drove away after hitting them, police said.

All three people who were hit were brought to Huntington Hospital by an ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, SCPD told Patch.
