  1. Plainview Hospital has earned the magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The designation is a recognition for nursing, and the first time that Plainview hospital has received it. “Our nursing staff is known for upholding the highest standards of nursing,” said Marianna Vazquez, RN, chief nursing officer at Plainview and Syosset hospitals. “With this accomplishment, our community is assured high quality compassionate care by our talented and dedicated nurses.” (Patch)
  2. Check out the Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Forest. The 6-year-0ld cat lived at a home with his mom and other cats until she passed. "Poor Forest and his friends found their lives turned upside down," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue said. "This beautiful boy does not truly understand what happened to his mom, his friends or his world." (Patch)
  3. John McEnroe's estate is for sale in Oyster Bay for $6 million. The tennis legend's 20,000 - square foot property sits on four acres and has been on and off the market for over a year. Click the link to see more information on the beautiful home! (Patch)
  4. The Commack bank robber who dressed as woman has been indicted. George Swanton, 62, of Oakdale, stole a minivan and then robbed the Teachers Federal Credit Union in Commack of more than $10,000.“ This defendant allegedly entered the bank, threatened a teller and decided to steal cash that did not belong to him to finance a drug-fueled binge, and now he will be held accountable for his actions,” Tierney said via news release. Swanton was ordered held on $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond or $300,000 partially secured bond. Swanton is being represented by Walter Green of the Legal Aid society.(Patch)
