Police ID Pedestrian Killed By 2 Vehicles In Suffolk L.I.E. Crash

The man pulled over and walked into the center of the highway before he was hit, police say.

MELVILLE, NY — Suffolk police have identified a Selden pedestrian who was hit and killed in a crash on the Long Island Expressway in Melville on Sunday.

Ronald Uher, 72, was driving a 2018 Ford F150 west on the Long Island Expressway when he pulled to the side of the road and left the truck, police said. He walked into the middle lane of the highway near exit 50 and was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 40-year-old Franklin Square man at 7:05 p.m., police said. Uher was then hit by a second westbound car, a 2007 Hummer driven by a 49-year-old Brentwood man, police said.

Uher died at the scene.

Neither driver was hurt in the crash, police said. The Ford F150, Chevrolet Malibu, and Hummer were all impounded for safety checks.
